Yesterday it was Thanksgiving. We did not have class. I did not have a Thanksgiving dinner because I am not accustomed to this kind of practice. In Tahiti we do not have Thanksgiving. Today we do not have class. We have to work for our presentations about Africa. Mine is about Rwanda. It is hard to make a good outline. I have a whole week end to think about it. On monday we have to be ready to do our presentation. Next week is the week before the last one. We are going to know wich one of us who will take the placement test. I think that the last week we will do something special. Or at least the last day.

Assignment.

In the movie "To Sir, with Love" the teacher tries to teach to the students how to behave like an adult. At the begining the students have a really bad behavior toward the main character, the teacher. He says that they have to stop to act like child. They have to control themselves. They can not do everything they want whenever they want. If you think like a children you are going to do everything to obtain what you want. If you try to think smartly, like an adult, you could be able to deal easily with some troubles that you are going to encounter during your life.

This semester I don't think I have acting like a child. For me it was the first time I live alone. So I am in charge of lot of more things than before. It is the reason why I think I have a little bit grown in my mind. Concerning SMC I try to always do the maximum. I always do my homework, and if I can do more I always try to do it. I can not say that I am acting like an adult. Because I am young and I still got lot of things to learn. But the experience in Los Angeles, that I am still enjoying the benefits, definitely makes me grow.

Hotel Rwanda.

Today I have watched a movie called Hotel Rwanda. Before I had no idea what it was talking about. It is really interesting to see this kind of movie about real events. The situation in Rwanda is critical in 1994. The army is there only to rescue the European people. They let all the Black people in trouble. It is a really good movie where you can imagine how the situation is dangerous. The main character in the movie is a black person. He has good relations so he got the help from the government and the army. He tries to take care of lot of locals people or they are going to be killed. The main character always find a way to deal with the army. He got some really good skills to speak. That save his life many times in the movie. The people in the movie are not American so they speak with a different accent. Sometime it is easier to understand. Finally I have really apreciate this movie and I am really glad to seen it.

To Sir, with Love.

On friday we have watched a movie called "To Sir, with Love." It is an old movie but still interesting. In this movie the main character is a black teacher. He tries to educated terrible students. In this establishment, all students were kicked out from others school. It is the reason why the teacher gets some trouble to keep them in the right way. Finally the students have a total respect for the teacher because he teachs them a lot on life.

Historic presentation

By watching my presentation and the one's of my classmate I have seen lot of things that we can improve. For example some people are too much with their paper. They don't try to tell their point with their own words they only read their paper. Or also the way that they behave, the hand in the pocket or behind their back its a sign of weakness or stress. Personally my problem is when I show few things on the board I turn back to the people of the class. I should look at them and make sure that they have understood what I just say.

History.

By reading my classmate blog, I've found some things that I didn't know. For example I didn't know that Trotsky was killed by Stalin. By listening my classmate presentation, I have learnt more about Trotsky, Stalin, Marx and Mao. It's allows me to understand what was the relation between those different characters.

Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov - Lenin.

It is interesting to study a part of the Russian history. It reminds me the historian class I had in Tahiti. I have learnt more about the Russian communism. The presentation shows me how to work in group. You have to make sure that everybody has well understood. Today, it's sunday and I have to meet my classmate at Santa Monica College. We are going to practice our presentation. Every person of the group has to know what the others are going to talk about. This kind of presentation is essentially a team work.
